Privacy policy

Effective October 10, 2026

Spark Mail is a macOS email application made by Noisy Neighbor Studio ("we"). This policy explains what data Spark Mail accesses, how it is used, and where it is stored.

The short version

Data Spark Mail accesses

When you connect an email account, Spark Mail accesses your messages, their metadata (senders, recipients, subjects, dates, labels and read status), attachments, and your account's email address and name. For Google accounts this happens through the Gmail API, with your permission.

How the data is used

Spark Mail uses this data only to provide the email features you use in the app: displaying, searching, organizing, composing and sending mail on your behalf. Actions such as archiving, starring or sending are performed only when you take them.

Where the data is stored

Messages and related data are stored in a local database on your Mac. Sign-in credentials, such as OAuth refresh tokens, are stored in the macOS Keychain. Data travels only between your Mac and your mail provider, over encrypted connections.

Sharing

We do not share, sell or transfer your data to third parties. No one at Noisy Neighbor Studio can read your email, because it never reaches us.

Google user data

Spark Mail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Deleting your data

Removing an account in Spark Mail deletes its locally stored mail and credentials from your Mac. You can also revoke Spark Mail's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the app removes its remaining local data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
